Juupajoki is a lively and warm municipality in the countryside in the northeast of Pirkanmaa, with good transport links, just 45 minutes from Tampere city center. The Highways 66 and 58 pass through the municipality, and the local train and bus services allow commuting to Mänttä-Vilppula and Tampere.

The traditional landscapes of Juupajoki, with well-preserved old buildings and clean nature with their rolling fields, lakes and wooded hills offer a variety of opportunities for both summer and permanent housing, as well as for nature and cultural experiences.

The municipality of Juupajoki is small with 2,000 inhabitants, but it offers the inhabitants well-functioning and high-quality basic services. Governmental services run smoothly and flexibly. You will find all the necessary services from health center and laboratory services to a pharmacy, as well as from food and hardware stores to banking services.

The most significant employers in Juupajoki are Millog Oy, a company specialising in the maintenance of military equipment, and UPM Korkeakoski sawmill and JPJ Wood Oy sawmill. Municipal self-sufficiency is high, and there are plenty of businesses in Juupajoki, especially in the machinery, earth moving, construction and service sectors. In addition, the municipality is known for the University of Helsinki Hyytiälä Forest and Climate Research Station and the traditional Inn Museum Kallenaution Kievari. The Juupajoki Gorge is one of the many nature attractions of the municipality. In the nature reserve, an ice age mound of 21 m, there is a refreshing microclimate and a mysterious atmosphere that awakens the imagination of the traveller. Along the nature trails that pass through the rich variety of leafy vegetation, you may well come across a variety of creatures of Finnish forest mythology, such as trolls and elves. The Koskenjalka Leather and Shoe Museum is also located in the old mill factory in the gorge area. An art gallery and a handicraft shop are connected to the museum.
